Why it’s not a one hit wonder

Have you ever thought that the world was conspiring against you? I have been there. It’s easy to bitch and complain all the damn time. But that is a vicious cycle that accomplishes nothing. In fact, it really limits your possibilities, because your mind is not open to all the positive shit out there.

By practicing gratitude, we are continuously focusing on resetting our mindset. We are choosing to focus on the awesome rather than the blah.

Just like giving someone a present just because you felt like it if they have a positive reaction and APPRECIATE the sentiment, it makes you want to do more for that person. It makes them realize that you APPRECIATE them, and in turn makes them want to do nice things for you.

Quite simply that is how the universe works too. Give thanks and appreciate every day. Look for golden opportunities and take advantage of the positive stuff the world is willing to give you. But don’t just take take take, make sure to give back too.

How to jump on the bandwagon

So it is quite simple to practice a little bit of gratitude. Say a little prayer at night, write down the great things that happened to you that day (some examples could be the 5 minute journal or even in your bullet journal). It doesn’t take long to do either one of those things.

If you want to go one level higher, then call up a family member just to say thanks, ask them about their day and take an interest in them. Call a friend up and treat them to dinner just because they have been putting up with you for so long. Thank you and I love you are two of the most important phrases we could say to our significant other.

Dream Catchers

As a child, I always had a simple dream catcher in my room. Now if you go on Pinterest you will find 100s of intricate designs and looks to them. Lots of people enjoy them, but do you really know the history behind them?

“Ancient legends about the history and origin of the dreamcatcher exist among several Native American tribes, but chiefly through the Ojibwe and Lakota nations. While many cultures find spiders to be creepy crawlers, the Ojibwe people found them to be a symbol of protection and comfort. According to the Ojibwa story, a mystical and maternal "Spider Woman" served as the spiritual protector for the tribe, especially for young children, kids and babies. As the Ojibwe people continued to grow and spread out across the land, The Spider Woman found it difficult to continue to protect and watch over all the members of the tribe as they migrated farther and farther away. This is why she created the first dreamcatcher. Following her example, mothers and grandmothers would recreate the maternal keepsake as a means of mystically protecting their children and families from afar.”

Definitely click on the link above. They have more fantastic information about them.

Dream catchers are very much a beautiful thing, but we have to also appreciate the history behind them as well.

Why it’s not a 1 hit wonder

Like many other things I have posted in this post and the previous one dream catchers have been around for many many years, and as long as we keep telling the same folklore and learning about people’s histories we will be able to keep things like these alive.

Since people are finding new and inventive ways to decorate them, I can just imagine how lavish they might become.

How to jump on the bandwagon

If you are looking to buy one then go into just about any metaphysical shop or go online and check out Etsy. Want to make your own? Then definitely give Youtube channels a whirl. I did look up some on Pinterest, but seriously though the tutorials are sometimes harder to follow on a blog post.

Law of Attraction

Okay, so this is one I have just started researching because it seemed like EVERYONE was talking about it. Talk about jumping on the bandwagon right? To be honest, though I am not 100% sold on the way some people perceive it.

So what is it? The law of attraction is basically attracting that which you focus on the most. The concept sounds pretty simple right? Unfortunately, a lot of people think of it as if you wish it, it will come true. That is the part I am not sold on. I have always been sold on the belief that if you put in the hard work, then you will get rewarded. I think most people have been brought up the same way.

The law of attraction is and should always work alongside you. So while you are working hard at your goals, it is helping to open doors for you. It is helping to have everything fall into place. It helps to show you that opportunities are at your fingertips.

On the negative side of things, it will also show you that if you live in the doom and gloom mindset, then you will be willing to accept negative things into your life. So the law of attraction really works both ways, so it is up to you and how you want to work with it.

Why it’s not a 1 hit wonder

Now that mental health is finally becoming more acceptable to talk about, mindfulness is becoming a daily practice and self-care is not selfish to practice, it is not surprising that the law of attraction is something on a lot of people’s minds. People are really wanting to LIVE THEIR BEST LIFE and that does not mean big job, big money. That means to have a more well-rounded lifestyle.

People are wanting good things to come into their lives and live happier. Not just healthier, but happier too. Many people are really starting to realize that they are in charge of their destiny. They can change things they are not happy with and that they can move mountains if they choose to.

How to jump on the bandwagon

First of all, do your research. I will be honest I don’t know much about it. It is intriguing to learn, but there is a lot of information out there. You can start off with Abraham-Hicks or other websites. Books are fantastic too! I started off with the Law of Attraction book by Esther and Jerry Hicks. There are a ton of Law of Attraction books out there.

Then I suggest sitting down and creating a vision board or at the very least a list of what your best life looks like. Write down all your steps to creating that life. Then pick one to focus on. If something comes up that doesn’t align with your best life then it’s a simple no. It’s about time you start attracting the things you do want!

Reiki Healing

This one has been around for years, but has blown up in a big way! So what it is? It is an energy healing technique. The practitioner has you lay down and they put their hands on or near you. They are helping unblock any energy inside and helping it to flow freely. This is meant to help you relax, reduce pain, and sleep better.

Why it’s not a one hit wonder

Not to put down Western medicine, because I really do believe in it, but sometimes a little alternative medicine to go along with it can really help. Now that we are realizing that relaxation and stress relief are necessary to have a balanced lifestyle we actively seeking out different options. More and more people are getting their reiki certification and helping those in need.

How to jump on the bandwagon

It’s quite simple. Do your research and then book a session!

Chakra balancing

This is one of my favourites! Chakras are different wheels (or vortex) of energy in our body. The main 7 are along our spine. Each wheel has a different type of energy that helps with different emotions and parts of your body, spiritual practices and helps you have a better control in your life.

Chakras are normally blocked when you are dealing with stress, a loss, life changes etc. When that happens it is important to sit down and realize that a chakra is blocked so you can start healing it. There are different activities, healing processes and food to eat that will help balance your chakra. Don’t think it’s a quick fix though. Chakra balancing takes time.

Why it’s not a one hit wonder

Chakra healing is becoming more and more popular. People want to feel good on the inside. We are willing to put in the work in order to make ourselves feel happy and feeling whole. I think chakra healing will become even more popular. It’s all about the education!

How to jump on the bandwagon

Okay so if you’re going to do this, you are going to need to take a good hard look at yourself. Figure out the positive feelings you feel regularly and why. You will also have to look at the negative feelings and why. Look at some physical symptoms you might have and pinpoint their location. For example, I suffer from something going on in my digestive symptom (we’re not quite sure what yet), so when I am stressed out or anxious or even a little too excited it affects it. So along with Western medicine, I have to remember to work on my solar plexus on a regular basis. I need to relax, take myself out negative situations and work on a little self-love. If I can control the anxiety a bit, then I can help manage the flare-ups.

This is not a one time fix all sort of situation. Don’t think that you are going to be able to work on your chakras once and you’re set for life. Nope, that’s not how this works. It’s a lifetime of fun!
