How to Take Care of Your Mind, Body and Soul
I am a big believer in self care. I think you sort of have to be in this day and age. With life becoming busier and busier for people, we sometimes forget to stop for a minute and take care of ourselves. It's one of the easiest ways to get burnt out. Does this sound familiar? Are you guilty of this? Ya I am very guilty of this for the past few months. Hopefully we can fix this, together.
So I decided these past couple of weeks that I was going to take some time to practice self care too. People have been saying I have really dark circles under my eyes, and I know I have not looked my best recently, because I am just too tired to. I have also had 3 anxiety attacks in a matter of 2-3 weeks, which never happens. I also need to prevent a burnout before it even happens. My body also decided to take a moment and decide it was going to give me a lot of pain. A ruptured ovarian cyst will do that to you. Well no time like the present to take it easy I guess.
So what did I decide to do take care of my mind, body and creativity? Find out below!
Mind- I took a free course on blogging. I learned some things, just for the fun of it. It was a lot of fun actually. I also decided to just have a couple of hours to sit and just let my ideas transfer from my mind to paper. That was a great exercise and I ended up getting a lot of it! After these two weeks, I feel like my mind is a lot clearer! I even finished a book! A whole book! I can't remember the last time I read an entire book!
How It Helped My Creativity- A clear mind will help to make you regain your creativity and allow for new ideas to come in. I came up with new blog topics and projects! I am excited!
Body- I slept. OMG did I ever sleep. I blame the pain meds for that and I am okay with it. I needed the 6-9 hours of sleep I got each night. Seriously I was functioning off of three hours a night there for awhile. I took baths almost daily. I put a show on and just vegged in the tub. Complete with a facial mask, this was just the sort of relaxation I needed.
How It Helped My Creativity- If you don't take care of your body, your body won't take care of you. Corny, yes, but definitely true. I have spent too many evening lately in front of the computer with nothing to say.
Creativity- I worked on other things beside the blog. I needed to throw my creativity somewhere else, other than my computer screen. Even if it was just for a few days. I did that and then when I came back to blogging, I had 5 new posts ready to be typed up! I loved it!
How It Helped My Blog- Well that's easy. By working on other things besides my blogs, I allowed my mind and hands to create things I haven't done in years. I actually have a great present for a friend of mine that I know she will love. Bonus for me, because now I get to write about it.
So as you can see, if you allow yourself some time off to recharge your batteries, you can come back a whole new person. You will be ready to attack any new projects that come your way!
